This would be no different if you attempt to make a connection from a remote host. This is by design, only users which are defined for a specific host, are allowed to be used. You only created users on the 127.0.0.1 host instead of localhost. Mysql I got the error message below when trying to access phpmyadmin. Since then I created some users, but then when I restarted apache and CREATE USER IDENTIFIED BY 'YOU NEED TO GIVE THE ROOT USER A PASSWORD' You can do this by running the following SQL query. The solution to this problem is to grant the root SQL user access to localhost host. You can define multiple hosts with the MySQL configuration. You have evidently defined and granted permissions to the root SQL user on 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost. When I first opened phpmyadmin it worked fine. # Remove the next comment character if you are not familiar with SQL Sql_mode=NO_ZERO_IN_DATE,NO_ZERO_DATE,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION #character_sets-dir="C:/xampp/mysql/share/charsets" _log_file_size to 25 % of buffer pool size # of RAM but beware of setting memory usage too high #innodb_log_arch_dir = "C:/xampp/mysql/data" Innodb_log_group_home_dir = "C:/xampp/mysql/data" Innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:10M:autoextend Innodb_data_home_dir = "C:/xampp/mysql/data" # Comment the following if you are using InnoDB tables # Uncomment the following if you are using BDB tables #log-update = /path-to-dedicated-directory/hostname # Point the following paths to different dedicated disks # binary logging - not required for slaves, but recommended #LOCALHOST PHPMYADMIN XAMPP PASSWORD## The password the slave will authenticate with when connecting to # The username the slave will use for authentication when connecting # The replication master for this slave - required # but will not function as a slave if omitted # required unique id between 2 and 2^32 - 1 # (commented) and instead use CHANGE MASTER TO (see above) # For that reason, you may want to leave the lines below untouched # the slave server, delete and restart the slaver server. # overridden by the content of the file, unless you shutdown # change in this file to the variables' values below will be ignored and # connect), the slave will create a file, and any later # if you mistyped the password in master-password and the slave fails to # start replication for the first time (even unsuccessfully, for example However, in case you choose this method, then Click on the Explorer button on the right side of the window to open a file browser directly to the XAMPP folder. Since then I created some users, but then when I restarted apache and MySQL I got the error message below when trying to access phpMyAdmin. When I first opened phpMyAdmin it worked fine. I changed it back to the default settings and it'still not working.I just installed XAMPP. I added my password in the empty '' in front of 'controlpass' under pma after that. And that's when my phpmyadmin started going blank. I pressed on the sql option and passed the following command - set password for = password('something') Īnd then I configured phpmyadmin file by replacing 'config' in front of 'auth_type' by 'cookie' and adding my password in the empty '' under it. Please let me know what I can do, thanks for your time and help. My phpmyadmin used to load but with the following errors.
